E-mail merge

I am trying to use e-mail merge from Word using a contact list from Outlook.
When I ask to use an existing list it only brings up 3 of the 5 lists I have.
No amount of manipulation can get it to change the 3 list options and I can
not find a way to access the list I want. What am I doing wrong?

Two questions - version of Office, and what do you mean by "list"?

Have you tried doing the mail merge from within Outlook?
Select all the contacts in the folder then do Tools-Mail merge...
