E-mail Notification Icon

MS Outlook 2003
Windows 7

The e-mail notification icon does not appear in the notification
area.

In the Advanced E-mail Options, under "When new items arrive in my
Inbox," I have the following checked:

Play a Sound
Show an envelop icon in the notification area
Display a New Mail Desktop Alert

Also, in the customize area of the Toolbar, in the Notification Area
Icons under "for Microsoft Office Outlook: You have new unopened
items" I have "only show notification."

What should I change or add so that the icon appears when a new email
appears in my Inbox?

Thank you.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can have the email envelop
icon show in the notification area when I receive an email?

Thanks.

For it to work you need Outlook to be open all the time. There is no way this option
that is in Outlook or any from anywhere that you install will work with Outlook
closed.
Open Outlook and minimize to the tray and then you will be notified with the
envelope that you have mail.

Thank you for your response but Outlook is always open as long as my
computer is on, which is from early morning to late night. Do you
think this does not work as it is supposed to because I am using
Windows 7?

Windows 7 has nothing to do with Outlook unless your OL version is 2000 which it is
not. Did you set it up correct within OL\Options and alongside within Exchange. One
has to be on the same understanding ( OL and Exchange)
It cannot have this option set in one only

I do not use Exchange.
