I
Ian
Note: I have Outlook 2003. I upgraded some time ago from Outlook 2000,
bringing my years-old .PST file with me.
I have a problem with the Rules Wizard (in the E-Mail area within Outlook).
When I setup a new rule - e.g. move messages from (e-mail address removed) to a folder
called XYZ Company - I always have to edit the rule afterward and unclick the
setting "on this machine only".
(I create the rule by right-clicking on a message in my Inbox and choosing
the "Create Rule..." option from there).
If I leave the "on this machine only" option set, the rule runs but does NOT
move the message. If I unclick the option, the rule runs and DOES move the
message.
One thing I also notice is that, with the "on this machine only" option set,
the rule appears in the Rules List suffixed with "(For other machine)".
I suspect that my problem may originate with how I upgraded from Outlook
2000 to Outlook 2003 and/or with a machine name change that I may have made
at about the same time as the upgrade.
Could someone please advise? Is it just a matter of telling Outlook -
somewhere - that I am "on this machine" rather than on a phantom "other
machine".
Thank you.
