E-mail viewing and writing

I use MS Outlook for e-mail viewing and writing. But there is a problem:
when I SEND e-mail messages, Outlook also RECEIVES messages. I do not want
this. When I choose SEND I want to send only.

This is quite important since I receive many e-mail messages per day.

How would I adjust the program so that I send and receive only when
specified?

Thank you,

Barry Karas.

You don't state your Outlook version, so this is for Outlook 2003.
Click Tools>Options>Mail Setup and make sure "Send immediately when
connected is checked". Then click Send/Receive and uncheck "Schedule an
automatic send/receive every". This should allow Outlook to send a message
whenever you click Send, but receive mail only when you click Send/Receive.
