E-mails in the Sent-folder aren't actually sent

Something strange has happen: yesterday I suddenly got a strange message - it
seemed like an e-mail with and attachment called outlook 2003 of a file-type
I have never seen before, and my virus-protection warmed me to open it. So, I
simply deleted it.

24 hours later, I realize none of the mails I have sent since this incident
have got through to the addressees (which is a big problem for me!!), even
though they seem to be sent as usual and are put in the outlook sent-folder.
On the other hand, outlook downloads all the messages that reach my hotmail
account - my inbox therefore acts as normal.

I am a bit desperate, can anyone help me??

If your virus scanner integrates with Outlook disable this integration and
try again. The on-access scanner and default Outlook security is sufficient
anyway.
