E-mails with attachments hang in outbox

I have just installed exchange 2003 and we run outlook 2002 (XP) and
have come across our laptop users having e-mails with attachments
hanging in the outbox after they have been sent. The messages are being
sent as I have checked the exchange log, and people who e-mails have
been sent to confirm that they recieve the e-mail. The only way to get
rid of the e-mails from the outbox is to delete them manually. If
anyone has any ideas please give me a shout.

Is this with a new e-mail profile?
Do you have a virus scanner installed that integrates with Outlook? Disable
this integration and try again.

For our desktop machines, we use symantec but for our laptops we use
forticlient which is used for VPN and antivirus. Our desktop users
aren't affected its just our laptop users. Is there any reason for this
happening?

Thanks

"Is there any reason for this happening?"
It's doing a poor job at integrating with Outlook. Disable the integration
as it is redundant anyway.
