EAC is 999,999,999,999.99 ... obviously an error, why?

No sub tasks appear in error but the overall roll up for a phase shows an EAC
value of 999,999,999,999.99. If I delete the summary task and re-create, it
calculates fine until I rebaseline any subordinate task ... at which point it
again displays the erroneous 999B figure.
