each click stops previous sound

I have a powerpoint presentation that I made a couple years ago. Since I
got Office XP though, powerpoint automatically stops the sound of the
previous action as soon as you click. It does this for every sound and for
every presentation. I have gone through the options and cannot fix it. It
did not used to do this.

After you insert the sound file, go to custom animation.
On the sound file click on the drop down menu and go to
effect options. Go to stop playing, and put how many
slides you want to go without the sound stopping.

You'll probably have to reset your sounds for PPT 2002 (XP), Paul. The
earlier versions handled sound a bit differently, especially if you're
talking about sound playing across slides. Check
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00047.htm for specifics.
