Each time I add an object, powerpoint moves everything

Hi,

I'm sure this is one of those annoying settings hidden away, but I can't
find it.

Each time I add an object to a powerpoint slide, powerpoint moves and
resizes all the other objects. This is annoying as I have to add stuff
monthly and essentially have to rebuild the whole presentation whereas I
should just be pasting content.

My guess is that it is helpfully "autoarranging" the slide for me.

Is there any way of getting it to provide less of this counterproductive
"help"?
