Earned Value Reporting database

It seems there is no timephased Earned Value data in the reporting database.
It also seems that earned value data is only stored at the assignment level,
and not the task level. Is there a reason why?

I'm trying to produce an earned value report from the project server
databases where I can segregate by team, project, etc.

The EPM demo sample EV report only grabs data from the assignments. This
presents a problem if a task has been baselined and another resource has been
added after that time. The task correctly shows the EV information but the
Assignment level view does not show any EV data for the resource(s) that
weren't baselined.

Is there a way to report timephased EV information at the task level? I can
see this data in the Project Plan itself. How is it stored in the db?

Thanks in advance.

Bernie,

What assignment day by day EV data are you specifically talking about? I
don't see any reference to the EV data in any of the day by day tables or
views.

I see EV fields and references in both the Assignment and Task tables and
views in the reporting DB but not the time phased ones.

Can you elaborate a bit more?

Thanks,

That seems to be the problem. There is no EV timephased data in the
reporting database. The EPM demo report calculates earned value on the fly
using cursors with the timephased assignment data.

Why is there no timephased EV data in the reporting db? MS Project stores
it in the plan and PS is somehow storing it in the db in order to persist the
project plan into Project Server. Do you know where in the other dbs that
might be stored? How can I extract the timephased EV data from one of the
dbs?

Thanks.

Hi Bernie

So far as I am aware there is no timephased EV data in any of the
databases. It only exists when you open Project. Project's new visual
reports provides reporting capability. Alternatively you could derive
the data yourself in a SRS report. An example is included in
http://blogs.msdn.com/chrisfie/arch...rvices-sample-reports-for-project-server.aspx
