I'm new to Access as this question will no doubt reveal

I have a two field table

Field 1 - Code Number - (Primary key - unique)

Field 2 - Description

I have populated the table through the datasheet

Form

I have put both my fields on the form

Field 1

I want the user to choose from the list and be able to add a new record
(which enables field 2 to be updated too) if the desired one is missing

Field 2
I want this to be read only an show the revised value when Field 1 changes


I plan to hide the Datasheet to force users to use the Form
