Easy question about dependancies

Help-- can anyone shed some light on what seems to be an odd behavior
in MS Project? I must be using it wrong, or something.

I have three tasks (A, B, C) that follow each other (via the
'predecessor' column)-- i.e. B is dependant on A, C is dependant on B.

If I start task A on a Monday, Project shows these start and finish
dates:

Task A takes 1 day, Mon - Tues
Task B takes 1 day, Tues - Weds
Task C takes 1 day, Weds - Thu

However, if I change Task A to 2 days, I get:

Task A takes 2 days, Mon - Weds
Task B takes 1 day, Weds - Thur
Task C takes 1 day, Fri - Mon

Why does Task C now suddenly start on Friday, instead of Thursday?
Task B pushed out like it should, but that should have only rolled
task C forward one day. Very odd!

thanks,
Eric

Hello Eric,
Strange dates anyway !
You could display dates with a format which displays time : Tools / Options
/ View : Dat format = 28/01/02 12:33
Also check the homogeneity between the Hours per days and Hours per weeks in
Tools / Options / Calendar and the time slots in the calendar itself : Tools
/ Change working time.

Eric,

The Start and Finish fields in Project actually include the time of
day, which could be the source of your problem. I would suggest going
to Tools>Options and selecting a date format that includes the time.
If Task B ends near the end of the day on Thursday, then Task C would
start the next day.

Thank you all-- that seems to be the problem; I made a new task and
just entered a single date (12/1) and a duration of 1 day... and
Project showed my working day as 11 hours long, since the new one-day
project started on Monday at 10a and ended on Tuesday at noon! Ok, I
like my work, but that's a lot to ask :) I fixed it on the calendar.

best,
Eric
