Easy question for most of you: How can I publish my site?

Dan Backlund

Hello
I just tried to use Frontpage for the first time and I have a problem that
probably looks rediculous:
I have made my web site on my local computer and want do upload it to my web
host. I choose publish from the file menu and give the name of my site (eg.
www.mysite.com). Everything looks good, it connects and uploads all the
files and directories. BUT, when I want to look at the site, I find that all
link references are made to my local computer (pictures, sub directories and
so on: file:///C:/mylocaldirectory/...).
How can I make this work? Is it a problem from Frontpage or from
configuration of something else? Anyone who can help?

FrontPage is a multi-purpose tool set. It can work on web sites and
individual HTML documents. The difference is that an HTML document in a web
site is part of a cohesive set of inter-related files. HTML documents, for
example, have links to images that are "embedded" (via image tags) in the
document. Now, when an HTML document is part of a web site, the links to
embedded objects are related to the web site. If, on the other hand, you're
just creating a local HTML document on your machine, links to images would
be file paths to your local machine.

FrontPage is aware of the context of a web site when you open one, and
behaves accordingly. If, on the other hand, you open an HTML document
without opening a web first, there is no context, and FrontPage makes all
links point to your hard drive.

In this case I could solve the problem by making the sub folders into webs
(I had made and was working on a web) and removing the absolute part of the
links that I had on my index page.
Thank you for the help!
