Hello CJH
"Greening" efforts...
Using Office Word 2003, HP laser printer 4250 series.
Does this setting really save ink, and if so, can anyone quantify the savings?
this isn't really a Word problem, as you set it in your printer driver
(i.e., you'll have the same differences in ink usage no matter from what
application you print).
I suggest you consult the manual to your HP printer or inquire at their
support site. From past experience with HP printer (4050 IIRC): there
was a visible difference between a printed text page w/ and w/o the
setting (text was a bit less dark in EconoMode), so I presume there
really is reduced ink usage. And no, I cannot quantify it.
Given that, in a typical office environment, (sadly) probably more
printouts go to the bin than in "publication", I suggest you set
EconoMode on per default.
