Hi,

I'm missing a feature on Mac Excel ('98): When using a Windows-PC one
may use "F2" to edit a cell's entry. On my Mac I alwas have to use the
mouse, since "F2" works like "command-X"/Edit->Cut. Is there any way to
have the window-like behaviour (or any other way to edit a cell by
pressing a key on the keyboard)???

If I remember well, "Command-K" did it in Excel '98... But it may vary with
the localizations and the versions. In my French v.X, the shortcut is now
"Control-U"...

Merci!
Both alternatives did not work for me (german kayboard), but it made me
try all different key combinations. So I found out, that one may use
Command-j to edit a cell without having to use the mouse. If Microsoft
would have documented this properly I would not have wasted so much time
so far...

Also Mac OS X "full keyboard access" steals a few popular key combos.
Did you know that ctrl-shift-F1 toggles that?
e.g if ctrl-d normally unhides the dock on your machine, when you get
into excel, ctrl-shift-F1 turns off that behaviour and it becomes 'fill
down' like god intended? It also enables ctrl-U to open the current
cell for editing.

CMD-u is the keyboard shortcut that enters edit mode in XL98. It's
listed in Help as the first item under "Edit Data by using shortcut
keys".

If you're interested in having F2 enter calculation mode, look at

Maybe it's because I'm using a german version, but cmd-U fill all
selected cells with the topmost entered value (as ctrl-u does too),
although the help pages promise to get "edit cell" by pressing this key
combination. But now I found out, that cmd-j does the job for the german
version...

Oh, that looks great. I think I'm going to try this out.
