Edit Enterprise Task Text 1 - how do I edit it

Diane

For the life of me, I created Enterprise Task Text1, but cannot rememeber how
I did it or how to edit it. I would like to go back to this field & edit its
name & properties (give it values to pick from). Where do I set this up???
Thank you.

Go to project professional.

Go to Tools>Options>Enterprise Options>Open Enterprise Global.

Then go to Tools>Options>Customize>Enterprise Fields...

It should be under the first tab and toggle to Task. Then use the dropdown
to change to Text Task Fields. Your custom Text1 should be there.

Open the Enterprise Global file for editing, then click Tools - Customize -
Enterprise Fields. Select the Task type of field and then select the Text
fields. After making changes, save and close the Enterprise Global file,
then close and reopen Microsoft Project. Ask your project managers to also
close and reopen Microsoft Project as well. Hope this helps.

Great - thanks. I see these fields now as columns I can enter & insert, BUT
the data does not go through to PWA??? I can see the column, but no data ...
any ideas?

Please see my response to you other posting "Steps to Add a Custom Field".
You are missing a few steps.

Refer to Jonathan's comments above. He is competently guiding you through
the process.

I do have one more question, why doesn't PWA hold this setting. I followed
your steps and it worked like a charm BUT, I have to do that each time I put
a new project in. Is there any way to set it up so that the Custom
Enterprise Task Field will always be in every project without having to ad it
(your steps 1-3) each time?

Hey Diane,

You might not have caught the last part of my response but if you want to
save having to do those steps on new projects, you should set this up on an
Enterprise Project template and have a process defined in which project
managers only create new projects from Enterprise templates. You can
control a lot of default "Project Settings" by forcing PM's to create new
projects from Enterprise templates.
