Edit Project Properties: Owner

When I try to change the project owner through Edit Project Properties, it
either doesn't let me save or I get the error “An unknown error has occured.â€
Usually it just freezes and when I change the owner and click Save or Save
and Publish it doesn't do anything. I have all the service packs and the new
release installed. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to
change the project owner?

Are there any errors in the Application or ULS logs? If not, you may
want to try increasing the verbosity of the Diagnostic Logging from
Central Admin and see if that causes any errors to be logged.

Hi Leilani,

I seen this error.

New owner should have permissions to access the project. You can do
the following:

1) Find out the security category that project belongs to (Example: My
organization or custom security category)

2) Make sure owner belongs to group that is based on category
determined on step 1

Thank you for your help. I assigned the user to every category and it let me
change the owner of the project. How do you find out what security category
a project belongs to? I know how to find what people belong to what security
category, but not for a project. Thank you for your help.
