Edit Recipient List

I created a Mail Merge file for envelopes and have been working with it. But
now it will not let me edit any entries in the Recipient List. The guidance
in the top box talks about how to sort and select fields. The Edit button is
not active and I tried the Refresh button. How do I get back to editing the
document?
