Edit smart object in Word without it moving

If I double-click on a Smart object in Powerpoint to edit it in Word,
the object moves if the text length changes. I want to keep the top
left corner fixed, without the object moving. How to do that?

Also, according the the help file, I can convert a smart object to
another type of object or even (I assume) PP objects.

In the Help file:

1. Select the embedded object you want to edit.

2. On the Edit menu, point to [object name] Object, and then click
Convert.

3. Do one of the following:

· To convert the embedded object to the type you specified in the
Object type box, click Convert to.

· To open the embedded object without changing it to the type you
specified in the Object type box, click Activate as.

Huh? Where and when did I specify something in the Object type box,
and what is that anyway? And how can I convert the object ( a Word
document) to something else? The only option is Microsoft Word
document.

Hi,

PowerPoint does not have the ability to lock the position of embedded
objects. If the object size changes then it might move around. If you wish
to suggest this be different in a future version of PowerPoint you can use
the Feedback item on the Help menu to let Microsoft know your wish.

The convert dialog box shows other applications that are on your computer
which support Microsoft's OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) protocol. If
all you see is Microsoft Word in that dialog box then no other programs on
your computer accept OLE conversions of Microsoft Word documents. I'm not
aware of any any 3rd party programs that support OLE on Macintosh, but if
any of them come along then they will automatically be supported in the
dialog box.

I don't need to lock the position of something, I just don't want it
to move when I don't move it. To me that's basic stuff. What it the
point of moving something when I edit the content Why would FPP do
that?
