Hi,

I have template in that i have added some variables by selecting it and
press Ctrl + F9, and i could able to read it from my application it went out
Great !!

Here is my big hurdle, once i save the file as .DOT i couldnt see those
varialbes, if i want to eidit fields what should i do?

Please let me know .....

You've actually wound up in the forum for Mac Word but it sounds like you're
using a PC version. Always give complete details when you post, & for future
reference you'll find the Windows OS groups here:

For your immediate concern, Ctrl+F9 is the keystroke to *insert* a field. If
you want to *display* the field codes that are already there use Alt+F9...
And make sure the file isn't Locked.

Sorry: Not quite enough information to answer...

The term "Variable" has a special meaning: "Document Variable". They will
save in either a document or a template, but only from VBA.

Once you save Variables in a document you can access them only from VBA.

I think you mean "Custom Document Properties". Different thing: you can see
these from the user interface. However, you have to explicitly ADD them,
then you must insert them into the document using fields. You must not link
the fields to text, or if you do, you must populate the bookmarks associated
with the fields, otherwise they will be blank when you reopen the document.
