Editable custom fields in the timesheet view

I have added a custom field to the timesheet view and have selected in
Customize->Published Fields "Let resources change this field" and made the
field an assignment field (we use one resource per task approach to project
scheduling).
I can see the custom field in the timesheet view but it is not editable.
I have tried all kinds of things but nothing helps. I have read the post by
Brian N who had a similar problem (7/19/2005 11:29AM) but his field became
editable. It has not done so for me.
I would be very grateful for your help.

Christine --

You have forgotten one important step in the process. After adding the
custom field using Tools - Customize - Published Fields, you then need to
republish the assignments using Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments. This action "pushes" the field to PWA and makes it editable by
team members. You need to perform this for every project in your current
portfolio. Hope this helps.

Yes, Dale, thanks but I have done this and I am still not seeing the field as
editable.
I did the following
a) Create custom field
b) Made it a published field with "Let resources edit..." and checking
assignment
C) Selecting all tasks
d) Collaborate-re-publish

The custom field is not editable.
