I have inherited a mail merge list for a non-profit from an older MS Word
(98?). The data file is in table style (.doc) and is hard to update and add
to. I have not been able to get this table into any other program so that it
is easy to work with nor work properly in Wood 2003. Always before when
working with data files I was able to edit them from within Mail Merge by
opening the data file. In Word 2003 I can't get the file to stay attached to
the Master Document nor can I get it to display so that I can edit it within
Word 2003.
I would be happy to be able to import it into Outlook as a separate contact
group but that won't allow a .doc file to be imported. MS Help suggests
menus that don't exist and the actual options that are similar still don't
allow a import of a .doc table.
It may be that I have not been able to update the data file to Word 2003 but
can't find how to do that either.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Louis
