Editing a message

I have outlook 2003. The problem has to do with the editing feature. Many
times i edit messages by going to edit>edit message.

The problem is that o do not know how to turn off the feature. What i do is
i close the message and reopen it again.

Is there a way to turn off editing without having to close the message?

As long as editing is ON i cannot click any links in the message. They do
not function at all.

AFAIK, no, the only way is to close it. But... its not necessary to close
it to use links - if you hold Ctrl down, you should be able to click on
links.
