Editing attachments in forms

My users need to edit xls, doc, and ppt files attached to infopath
forms.

Since editing attachments directly in the form is not supported, they
are saving the file to their local computer, making their edits, and
re-attaching the file to the form. This process is cumbersome and adds
opportunities to lose changes.

Has anyone come up with a good way to edit files attached to their
forms?

Hello,

As far as I understood attachment is just a storage place. It definitely
needs to be saved to local computer and then make changesand then reattach
the same.
Saving directly on the form is not possible by any method.
