Editing Comments - Excel 2000

Using Excel 2000, one numeric column has a number of comments in various
cells. By pointing at the comment indicator I can dislay the comments and by
right-clicking over it I can delete the comments but I cannot edit the
comments. This is with the exception of the last comment (in the same column
and range), which I can edit. The sheet is not protected, I do not have
multiple sheets selected, the freeze panes option is off, and all the cells
are formatted as currency.

I can edit comments in all other columns except this one.

Can anyone suggest why I can edit the last one but not the others. I have
tried copying and special pasting to a new column and nothing changes.

Thanks muchly for all suggestions / help.

Exactly what happens when you do Right-click > EditComment on one of the
cells with a comment..........does the comment pop-up?, can you not type in
the cell?, does the change not "take" when you change cells and come
back?.......

Is there a RangeName that pertains to the cells which cannot be edited?
Could there be a macro setting a fixed message(s) in those comment boxes?

Thank you for your response... absolutely nothing happens when I right-click
and select the Edit Comment option. The comment box does not show up. The
only time the comment box is displayed is when I point the mouse at it.
There are no names ranges involved and there are no macros in the workbook.

I can, however, delete the comment by right-clicking over it and selecting
the Delete Comment option.

A mystery.....

Thx,

Try opening the file on another computer. If it still has the same problem,
then the problem is in the file, if not, then the problem is within your
computer or your install of Excel.

If the problem is within the file, try deleting that column and saving to
another filename, then re-opening and re-installing that
column.......sometimes major surgery is the only cure in Excel...........

Thanks CHuck. I think major surgery will be the solution as this file has
been opened on several PCs with the same results.

Thanks for trying.
