Editing/Cropping a Shape?

I want to have an outline map of the US, on top of which I will put people
and buildings to indicate specific locations.

The only stock Visio shape of the US that I can find includes Alaska and
Hawaii, which are not necessary and take up too much room.

Hope do I crop that shape to only have the contiguous US? The "help" section
is anything but helpful! I have tried everything.

The United Shapes contains about two hundred geometry sections. If you open
the shapesheet and place the cursor in one of the geometry section, you will
see a selection box on the drawing indicating what part is created by the
current geometry section. Start deleting sections.

Thank you, John. Yes, I got to the Shapes/Operations/Trim part which has
cramped my hand up from clicking little "vector" ? boxes and deleting
them....got rid of Alaska and Hawaii, then couldn't close out ot the
Operations feature....(how do you do that?) So I tried to copy the
shape...only to have it copy itself into its own shape (i.e. 2 versions of
the us)...So now I have deleted most of the 2nd us (still working on the
great lakes...) and need to know how I "save" that shape so I can use it
(stretch, copy, shade, etc) in a diagram.

Again, thank you for tha advice!

Chris
