Editing in Adobe

P

Peggy Grall

I know Adobe isn¹t a Mac product, but I can¹t seem to figure out how to get
the edit functions to work in Adobe (pdf) documents that my assistant (a PC
user) sends me she says that when her other clients (all PC users) open
the documents they are able to edit the documents by using the comment and
Mark Up tool....

Any ideas for Mac with Adobe?

Thanks Peggy

You mean Microsoft, right?
Adobe is a company that sure makes a lot of Mac products.

You can do that in Adobe Acrobat for Mac.
I even suspect you can do it with the free Acrobat reader version.

Corentin,

alas, Just like Office Mac, Acrobat Mac is limited as well.

There only specific Browsers/email Program that Ma Acrobat /Reader will
accept and there are limitations as to what can be done as well. In
order for certain things to be done in Reader permission first must be
granted within Acrobat.

Hi Peggy;

As others have pointed out Adobe is a company that develops software for
both Mac & PC, so it's impossible to tell exactly what program you're using.

Adobe Acrobat is the full PDF creating & editing program - That's what you
need if you intend to take advantage of those capabilities. It is a [rather
expensive] program that you need to purchase. Even it cannot edit some PDFs
if they were set with security restrictions. There are also other PDF
editing programs available if you Google for them or check on
VersionTracker.com... most are inexpensive, some are even free, but you need
to confirm editing capability as many just create PDFs from other files.

There is also Adobe's Reader which is a free PDF reader program, but it
doesn't offer the editing features you mentioned. You can use it to view
PDFs, select & copy content, export a PDF as a text file - even generate
PDFs from existing files - etc., but you can't edit the original PDF.
There's some confusion because the Reader utility was previously known as
"Acrobat Reader" - they dropped the "Acrobat" a few versions back in order
to help avoid the confusion with Acrobat itself.

My guess is that you have Reader, but you don't have Acrobat... Or perhaps
you're using Apples Preview program which comes with OS X. It also provides
no editing capability for PDF files.

Sure, just look at the integration in Office. On the Mac version, it's a
joke!

True too. It integrates well in Safari, but not so well in most other
browsers. That doesn't mean much as far as the issue here is concerned.
You can still open PDFs on the Mac version of Acrobat and anotate them,
