editing in Word

How do you insert a letter in a word or a space without
deleting the following letter?

Mark,

Toggle OverStrike. It is an indication OVR on the bottom document
information bar. Double click with your mouse. Is also toggled with the
Insert key unless you have changed this behavior with Tools>Options>Edit>Use
INS key for Paste.

You have the document in typeover mode. Tap the insert key to put your
document into insert mode.
