Editing Input

Hi -

I have several fields where I need to edit the input
i.e., If I9 doesn't = a 1, make sure it = a space. Or if
H9 (where I already have a formula in it and just need to
add this feature) doesn't = the stipulated character
strings in the current formula it too should = space
(empty cell).

All thoughts on how to do this are welcome - I'm quite
inexperienced with Excel and appreciate all the help
given me.
