Editing Masters

I need to edit a Master shape. For example I need to edit the Master "MUX 8"
(File->Shapes->Electrical Engineering->Integrated Circuit Components-> MUX
8). I might want to change C1, C2 and C3 in the shape to some other text. I
copied MUX 8 to a custom stencil that I created

1. Right clicked on the Master.
2. Clicked on Edit Masterand then clicked Edit Master Shape. The Master
shape opened in a new page.
3. Tried to ungroup it but received the following message:

Shape protection and/or Layer properties prevent complete execution of this
command.

I checked the protection status (Format -> Protection), the shape is not
protected. In the Layer Properties (View -> Layer Properties) Visible, Print,
Snap and Glue are checked. I tried various combinations by checking and
unchecking but nothing happened.

Please let me know how to edit MUX 8.

Editing some master shapes can be a bit like major surgery! If you get
it wrong then the whole shpe may fall apart. However, you can always
throw away your changes and start again.

You are probably on the right track but
1. also open the Master Explorer Window, this will give easier access
to all the components of the shape.
2. ungrouping can be dangerous and make the shape fall apart
3. use the Format -> Behavior -> Group behavior set to Group first or
members first to allow you to select shape members.
4. Once you have the appropriate shape selected use the text tool to
change the text.

Hi,
when you are in the edit master window either the master explorer window
shows or you
go to view/master explorer master window and make it visible
Expand the master icon to arrive at for instance Sheet.9 this is the left
shape representing the text C1.
Open the shapesheet for that shape and go to the protection section and set
the locktextedit cell to '0'
Then you can change your text to whatever and afterwards put the
locktextedit cell back to '1'
