Editing mht files with Frontpage

We use Microsoft Frontpage 2003 at work for an internal knowledge base.
I am one of the admins and am wanting to convert as much of our .htm
files to .mht as possible. I'm having problems and wanting to know a
couple of things.

1. I know mht files can be memory and processor intensive but is this
an otherwise smart way to manage files in a website? It's just a pain
in the ass when I have to email someone a file and have to zip up the
htm file because of all the extra crap that goes with it.

2. If I try to edit the mht files in Frontpage, I get an error on a
..tmp file in Temporary Internet Files. Flushing the TIFs does not
solve the problem. Aren't you supposed to be able to edit mht files
with FP?

Thanks. Microsoft amazes me with the incompatibility of files between
Word-Frontpage-Internet Explorer.

Because an .mht file just isn't compatible with FrontPage.
Web pages "do not" embed images or other content and pages saved as .mht embed images and
other content.

It's the same issue as trying to convert pages created in Publisher to regular html pages,
it just can't be done.

As a side note, are you aware that .mht files are very easy to infect with viruses

Wow interesting. Didn't know the virus thing. Thanks for your help.

So...basically there is no easy way to send someone an html file you
created? Aside from zipping up the html page itself and all associated
files?

Publish to a location that the person has access to, so they can view the page.
