Editing or cursor back issue

for some reason I can't edit or cursor back to correct my work in Outlook or
Word. the MS solution is to upgrade to Vista and Office 2007 - been there
done that [horrible experience, no backward compatability etc.] Does anyone
know how to correct this in office 2003?

You have to be a little bit more specific for us to understand what's
wrong. "Can't edit or cursor back" exceeds my imagination...
