editing pics

I have PowerPoint 2000

I have received a pps file where most of the slides have pictures that
refuse to be selected for editing. Text in the same slides is editable ok and
s few of the slides have pictures that respond when selected.

When I right-click to select the picture all that happens is that the font
in the toolbar changes.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Cheers

Depends on what you mean by editing the picture. By default you will have to
take the pictures out of PowerPoint and into a paint program to do any
editing on the picture

By editing I was thinking of selecting it and using the basic brightness,
contrast, crop etc tools on the Powerpoint toolbar [without leaving
powerpoint]?

You have to do that in a program other than PowerPoint.

Well, I don't know, maybe we are talking at cross-purposes - I have no
trouble using those tools [brightness, contrast etc] as they are in the
PowerPoint Picture toolbar which I open with the VIEW tab?

You cannot physically edit an image the you have inserted into PowerPoint
using the tools in PowerPoint 2000.
