editing powerpoint presentations

I have a powerpoint presentation that I can't select certain slides from. It
starts automatically and when I press the ESC key to get it back to the
individual slides it automatically shuts down. I do notice that very quickly
all of the slides show up before it does shut fully down.

Is there someway I can stop it from shutting down fully so that I can grab
the bits that I want?

Sounds like it's been saved in show format (.pps(x))
Open PowerPoint and then use File > Open see if that works

Thanks for the reply John.

I forgot to mention that the presentation is on a cd and when I go through
what you said it doesn't appear to find it on the cd even though it is
looking for pps etc files.
