i am trying to edit someone else's letters--address changes, etc. when i go
into design mode and put the correct information in, it does not work. how
do i edit in design mode? or if that doesn't work, how do i get it back to
the original design?

thanks

Is this an Access question? If so, are you referring to forms, reports,
tables,...?

i am using software that has a front end database and then reports, letters,
etc. that plug in the information from the database. i also can edit these
reports, letters, etc. to fit our specific needs. however, when i do edit in
design mode, and then go back to check that it worked correctly, i get these
little windows popping up asking me for the information i have already put in
the design module. it does not automatically plug in the information. is
this normal or have i ruined the whole setup? and if i have ruined it, how
do i fix it?
thanks

Rule 1: Perform backups on a regular basis
Rule 2: Perform a backup before doing anything to your database
Rule 3: Perform a backup right after doing something to your database

It is possible to ruin something in Access (not that I've ever done it
myself, of course . . .) in the process of entering data/changing
something/editing. If someone else has a copy of the front end, you may want
to get a copy of just the report/letter you are having problems with.

What "software"? is this written in Access? Access doesn't have "letters"
but does have reports.

"plug in the information from the database"? Access has tables and queries
with fields/columns.

"design mode" of what? Are you editing the design of reports or what?

"go back" where? Are you referring to print preview of a report?

I don't know what you might have ruined so I can't tell you how to fix it.
