editing tables

I created a table in Word with 6 col. and 7 rows. How can I delete some of the cells

If you want to delete the content of a cell, select it and then press the
Delete Key. If you want to delete the actual Cell, use Delete from the
Tables Menu and Select Cell from the Sub Menu. You will then have options
to delete the Row or the Column containing the Cell or to shift the
remaining cells up or to the left.

For the deletion of an actual cell, it's also possible to select
the cell and then press BACKSPACE (at least in Word 2000; I
suppose it's possible that this behavior has changed in recent
versions).
