Editing Text w/in customized column

Would greatly appreciate any/all help regarding the
following within MS Project:

I created a customized column and am looking to edit text
for several different work tasks or rows.

When I double click on the text, it just brings up
the "task information" toolbar and does not allow me to
edit the text in this customized column....also tried
right clicking on the text but do not have edit options
here either....seems pretty basic, so hopefully there's a
simple solution....have been unable to get MS "live"
technical help due to outdated (98) version.

Please help...THANKS!

Regards,

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Click the in cell you want to edit. Press the F2 key to enter the edit
mode. You may also click in the entry bar (area above the list of tasks
under the formatting toolbar to edit text.)

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

thanks Julie! I'm editing using the F2 key but still seem
unable to see my cursor to accurately identify where to
edit (i.e., it defaults to the last word but does not
allow me to backspace to get to the precise word/letter to
correct).....would appreciate any follow up thoughts.
thanks again!

Hi Gerry,

Can you use your arrow movement keys (left arrow) instead of the backspace
key to move the cursor? The backspace key will delete text as it moves to
the left, the left and right arrow keys should just allow you to move within
the text without deleting.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance and thanks for
the feedback.
