Editing the Getting Started Tab in Word 2007

Hi, does anyone know how to edit the Getting Started Tab for Word 2007 so I
can add my own content into the tab? I was reading up on it at the link
below, but the steps there are to create a new COM add-in, not to actually
edit the Getting Started one.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb266217.aspx

I tried to edit a dll file I found associated with the tab and that did not
work. Is there an xml file I can edit to add content to it?

If this post belong in another thread/topic please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi, Brian17,

There are some developer newsgroups that might be a better fit for this type
of inquiry. Most of them start with "microsoft.office.public.developer.*"

Hi Brian,

you are probably out of luck. The getting started tab is an add-in and not
part of the core Office applications. Therefore we don't really have a way
to edit it.
Now there is a way to edit customizations made by an add-in, but for that
we'd need to know some internals of it. As those are not available for the
Getting Started tab, I think you are out of luck. Considering that the tab
is rather light in content though, you are faster just recreating it from
scratch.
