I have a browser-enabled form created in InfoPath 2007, that submits to a
SharePoint Server 2007 form library. After a new form is submitted, users who
open it from the library will see a read-only view. There is one editable
field for input of a password, and a button that switches the form to an edit
view if the correct password is entered. There's a small group of users who
are allowed to edit the forms, and it's a variable group, so there's one
password known only by this group. This seemed like the easiest way to
restrict most users from editing the form after it was submitted.
The problem is, I can't figure out how to save changes that an editor might
make. Using the Submit function again results in a generic error. I don't see
a Save function for use with a button. I don't want to turn on the Toolbar
with the Save, Save As, etc. button options, as I think that would confuse
users when they are initially creating the form (at that point, they click
Submit to send it to the form library, which works fine).
Is there a simple way to configure a button to save changes on a
browser-enabled form that has already been submitted?
Or is there a better approach to use to accomplish the objective I described?
I should note I am a "power user" and am not a developer, I don't know
Visual Basic or other programming languages. Just the most computer-literate
person in my group so I get asked to do these things. There are
definitely gaps in my knowledge!
Thanks for any guidance you can offer.
