When we use the editsite 2003 utility to create another
virtual directory after upgrading to Project Server 2003,
we receive the following error:
"<VD Name>: An unknown error has occured while creating
virtual directory. Site creation aborted."
Background:
We are in the process of upgrading our production Project
Server 2002 environment to 2003. We successfully
upgraded the DB and APPservers and installed the front-
end application in our 4 server distributed environment,
all running WIN2K Server. The default ProjectServer
virtual directory is created correctly and we can access
the website fine - opening and publishing projects.
I have verified all of the inputted info within EditSite
is correct (username/psw, server names, ...). We have
successfully used this utility to perform this same
action in 2 other test environments, one in a production
domain and one in a test domain. We have a support call
into to MSFT, but so far have not had any luck. I'm not
sure if this is a configuration setting within IIS or
possibly somewhere else down the stream of connectivity.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
