Editsite sharepoint permissions

I'm using editsite to create a hosted site but it keeps hanging - apparently
because I don't have the correct permissions on the sql server which hosts
the sharepoint database (it's on a separate machine.)

The error I get in the eventlog tells me I'm unable to connect to the
STS_Config_server database.

My question is - what user does Editsite try to connect to this database as?
Also what permissions are required on the database for whatever user this is?

I believe that EditSite runs under the user's credentials. Therefore, the
account you logon with should have access to the SQL databases. A domain
admin account is nice to work with.<g>
