Hi,
What is the most efficient way of tracking progress in MSP2007?
Ours is a PM driven environment, so the timesheets which get submitted
to line managers don't work for us. We are using the Task Updates
method instead. Here's our process:
1. Resources go to "My Tasks" and update progress by specifying "hours
worked per day" and submit
2. PM goes to "Task Updates", reviews and accepts the time
<Here's the part that I'm looking for suggestions on>
3. The time submissions is still not reflected in the project, the
project still needs to be published. So the PMs can either go through
all their active projects (or the ones they think they received
updates for), open each one and click on publish - OR - from Task
Updates they can "Go To" -> "Applied Task Update Requests and Errors",
select all tasks where "published" has a value of "no" and publish
them through PWA.
It seems to me if the PM has already accepted the time submission then
the 3rd step above is quite rednudant. If PWA is capable of publishing
the updates through PWA on the "Applied Task Update Requests and
Errors" page then why can this not be done automatically?
What I'm hoping is that there is a config issue on my end that forces
us to go through the 3rd step - I'd appreciate it if any one can show
me a work around for avoiding step 3.
Thanks,
Nasir
