Effort Driven Tasks

S

for a fixed duration, effort driven task, with both resource 100%
availability, when one resource is assigned to a task the unit and work is
calculated by project.
When an additional resource is assigned to the same task, project reduces
the units of the first resource by 1/3 and assigns it to the second resource.

Why is the split not 50-50?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Project will divide the *remaining* work from the status date to the task
finish date respecting %Complete. Take a look at the Task Usage View, set
the timescale appropriately. YOu may need to add addtional rows to the view,
just right click on the row titles and select anything useful. Post back if
it still looks odd.

Yes, that is correct. Effort driven controls the remaining hours to be
divided among the resources.

To try and answer your first question, if you already have resources that
have some actual work reported, then the behavior becomes more complex and
the remaining work should be divided among the resources but possibly
assignments will be spread over different durations within the task.
