Effort Variances

I understand you can baseline a project plan and track schedule variances
once you start tracking with actuals, but it appears as though you
don't/can't baseline the "work" effort. In other words, if I baseline a task
for 40 hours, but it takes me 44 hours to complete the task, is there a way I
can record the 44 hours and identify this as a 4 hour work or effort variance
against my baseline?

When you set a baseline, by default you will also set the "Baseline Work"
(Effort). You can record the actuals in the Actual Work column. Then you can
compare actual work to baseline work and voila - you have a variance...

HTH, let us know how you get along.
