Elapsed time vs effort time

Hi

I have a question on how to view in project plan the remaining work?
For a example....
A task has started at 20-3-2008
However until now (1st Oct 2008) only 80% of the work is completed.
Task type = Fixed work and should be set to 10 days (I do not know where I
can enter the Fixed work of 10 days as I can only enter the duration!)

This means that the remaining fixed work is 2 days.

If the resource unit is set to 50%, this would mean that the remaining
duration is 4 days as from today.

I would then like to see on my gantt chart that the finish date would be
Monday 6 October.

Is this possible in MS Project?

Hi,

Display the Work table : View / Table / Work
There you will find :
Work : 10 days
Actual Work : 8 days
Remaining Work : 2 days

To schedule the Remaining work after the status date :
Tools / Tracking / Update Project / Reschedule un completed work to start
after : 1st Oct 2008

The "task usage" view will allow you to manage work hours at the assignment
level
