Eliminating accent grave from my tables

I need to know if there is a way to prevent accent grave from being automatically created in my Access 97 tables when I enter data into a field

For example, I type the word cafe and when I tab to the next field, it changes it to read café

Sounds as though you've got AutoCorrect turned on.

Text box and combo box controls have an "Allow AutoCorrect" property that
you can set to False to turn this off, or you can go to Tools | AutoCorrect
on the menu bar and remove that particular entry.
