Eliminating Page # on First Page of Endnotes???

J

Joshua

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to keep a page number from
appearing on the first page of my endnotes. I tried
clicking on the page number, which puts in in header
mode, and simply deleting it. But, that automatically
deletes the page numbers from the entire document.
Anyone know how to eliminate it on that one page only?

Thanks

Ikoneta

First, you'll need to make sure you have a section break at the bottom of
the page previous to your footnotes page. (You may have one)

Then, with your cursor in your footnotes section, File-Page Setup and choose
the Layout tab and choose "different first page" (this section only). Then,
go to the header of the first page. Make sure it says FIRST PAGE HEADER. If
Same as Previous is ON, turn it off (toolbar button on header/footer toolbar
toggles it). Then, remove the page number from the first page.

<-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*->
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response! I've never done section breaks before, so I might be
doing something wrong here. When I put my curson in the endnotes section,
File-Page Setup no longer appears as an option. It's dulled out. Similarly
with the insert breaks function. Am I doing something wrong???

Hi, Josh. I said place the section break on the page BEFORE the endnotes
section, not IN the endnotes section. :)

Ok, sorry, I'm new to this. How do I know if I have a section break there, and
if I don't, how do I create one? When I place my cursor on the page before
the endnotes, the insert break function is dulled over. (as well as page
setup.)

I'm not sure I can tell without seeing your file. Wanna email it?

Hi,

All you should need to do is go to page setup, then
layout, then go to headers and footers section. The
second box down should say "different first page", simply
check that box and problem solved.
