Email a form in FP2003

Emailcrazy

I have spent hours tring to find why a form can not by emailed to me. Can
anyone help? I get these errors messages...

The form can not be configured to send email. the web site may be located at
a disk-based location. or on a server that has not been configured to send
email.

and

HTTP 403.3

I have done everything I know to do and so has my IT department.

Thanks

You need to publish the site to a server that has the FP extensions installed via FP's http mode and
then test the form. In you local web when you save the form, tell FP not to remove the email
address.

....and make sure the host has configured the forms to email transport for
the account in the extensions.

Well, those errors sure sound like the extensions have not been configured
properly.

In the meantime, please post a URL to the forms page in question.

Thank you but, this is on our intranet site. I do have the extensions
installed for email transport.

Any other suggestions?

Does it make a difference to tell you this is on a PC not a web server?

Thanks

Do you have a SMTP server installed? Also you might want to post this to the Windows XP newsgroup.

I don't know if anyone is still looking at these posts, but I have a
similar question. First off, let me say that I am not a web
programmer, hence Frontpage 2003. However, I do have some idea on how
web publishing works. That being said, this is what I am doing and
what I am running into.

I have created a Feedback form from the Frontpage Template.I want this
form to be sent to an email as opposed to being stored in _private/
feedback.txt. The form states at the top "...By default, the form data
is saved to a text file on the web server using the FrontPage Save
Results component. Edit the Form Properties to change this behavior."
I go into the Form Properties and enter the email address that I would
like the form data sent to and get this message "The form can not be
configured to send email. The web site may be located at a disk-based
location. or on a server that has not been configured to send email."

Again, I do not know to much about this stuff. I FTP webpages that I
create in Frontpage to a 3rd part webserver, a company called Powweb.
Don't know how they handle Front Page Extensions.

What can I do? Is there another form I can use? Anything that utilizes
the mailto:[email protected] function?

The FP web must be http published, not ftp, to a host server that has the FP
server extensions installed, and the forms to email transport configured for
your account in the FP server extensions.

Thank you for the reply.

I visited that site when you posted it earlier on, and the information
provided does not help. It assumes that I have access to IIS on the
webserver...which I do not. I am only limited to the options that are
provided from the web based tooling. Therefore (unless I am really
missing something) these Microsoft links are useless to me.

Any other suggestions (or maybe clafification) :)

Thanks

All set. Was able to enable FP extensions via the control panel in the
webservice providers online managment tool. Thanks!

You contact your host to have them do it.
