EMail Account Order Cannot Be Changed in OL2002

I have used the email accounts options to set the order in which I would like
to check email accounts by moving the accounts up and down in the list.
However, no matter how I set them, the mail is still checked in the same
original order. I know with OE this was a problem and although then it was
supposed to sort accounts alphebetically, it seemed to check in different
orders if on dial-up instead of broadband. Does OL2002 have the same
problem? I am using dial-up and no matter what order I put my email accounts
in, they are always checked in the same original order.

you can't control the order they are checked, although you can control it to
some degree using send and receive settings to create new S/R groups and
have them check on different schedules.

So this same problem from OE was never fixed in Outlook? When we go into
Email account settings they have the option of "Move up" and "move down" for
each email account (I have four). If OL ignores the order we put them in,
then what is the order for? I don't want to stagger when I check them, I
just want to click one time to check all the accounts and have them checked
in a predefined order. How did OL determine the order it put them in to
check? It always uses the same order, so do I need to delete all my email
accounts and then re create them in some particular order to make OL check in
that order? I was impressed that MS put the option to move up or move down
in the email settings window, but very unimpressed if you are telling me this
doesn't do anything and it still checks in any old order it feels like!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Outlook and OE are not related - two different groups created them and they
do not share code, so how it works in OE doesn't have any bearing on
Outlook. What problem do you have that you need to change the order? Outlook
checks up to 4 at once - so if you only have 4, the order doesn't really
matter.

I know they are different programs but they have the same problem. OE seems
to check mail in a random order, and that order even changes depending on if
you do dialup or cable. OL seems to have the same problems, and I'm not sure
why MS couldn't have fixed this by now.

I have one important email account (my default) which I'd like to check
first, but it is third on the list of email accounts checked. My other three
accounts are less important and they can download while I read and process my
first accounts email that just came in. (I have dialup so the time for
larger email downloads might be half an hour at times). So instead of
waiting for the half hour or more, I'd like to use that time processing the
important email (default account) first. I know you said they all are
checked at once, and the status window does say 'processing' on all of them
at once, but in actuality, only one is done at a time, in the same order each
time, but not the order they are arranged with the up/down arrows (what are
those for if OL ignores the order?) Do I need to delete all four email
accounts and then recreate them in some particular order? The order it uses
now does not change each time I get mail, but it is nothing like the order I
set them to in email settings. Why doesn't MS make use of the order we set
them in? Thank you for any help you can give. BTW, I don't want to have to
specifically tell it to check one email account first, then the other three
later. To have to do that sequence each time should be totally unneccessary.
Thanks.
