Send & Receive Basics:

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration
3. Check Advanced settings for both receiving and sending- IMPORTANT

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Diane,

I don't have Mac Office business edition, hence I cannot set-up an Exchange
Account. Could this be the issue? If so why can I sometimes send emails from
Exchange and always receive for one account?

I am also dealing with Microsoft Exchange server 2003 and I have read the
upgrade for Entourage WSE works only with Exchange Server above 2007. Can
you clarify?

Thanks
Kate

If you are using IMAP to connect then the Home & Student version will work.
Can you clarify your statement "If so why can I sometimes send emails from

Are you sending from Exchange at work and then using IMAP to receive at
home?

That is correct, Exchange server 2003 does not work with EWS. Same for Apple
mail's Exchange.
